Malta, a group of mediterranean islands and a former British colony makes the most of a bilingual literary heritage. English is spoken here but also the native Maltese, a language akin to Arabic. The Chairman of the National Book Council of Malta speaks about promotion of reading in two languges and about Maltese-language literature produced by a younger generation of authors.
