Malta, located in the middle of the Mediterranean between Europe and North Africa is the European Union's smallest country with a flourishing book publishing industry and a well attended book festival. The Chairman of it's Book Council speaks about the challenges of small- scale book market economies and it's ties to the European and English-language markets.
